Yoga Nidra is a guided practice that brings the body into deep rest while keeping the mind aware.
It is not sleep. It is a state where the body relaxes completely, and awareness is gently guided inward.
In modern contexts, similar states are sometimes referred to as Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR).
You may notice:– Constant overthinking– Difficulty switching off– Disturbed sleep– Feeling tired even after rest
The body may be still, but the system remains active.Yoga Nidra helps shift the system from doing → resting.
Awareness is guided:– through the body– through the breath– into deeper layers of the mind
As external input reduces, the nervous system settles, and the mind becomes quieter.
This creates a state between wakefulness and sleep, where deep rest becomes possible.
Yoga Nidra is a process of withdrawing the senses (pratyahara).
When this happens:– the body relaxes deeply– the mind becomes more receptive– stored tension begins to release
The system naturally moves towards balance — without force
– Reduced restlessness– Better relaxation– Improved sleep– Greater awareness of breath– A sense of calm and clarity
Changes are gradual and individual.
The practice is guided in a simple, structured way, sometimes combined with movement and breathwork. The focus is to help you:– understand your patterns– develop awareness– learn how to rest consciously
